There are actually quite a few things that can cause pimples, some things that you may not be aware you’re even doing…or not doing. Here’s a list.

1. Did you know bacteria on your cell phone causes pimples? I didn’t realize this until I heard it on the news and realized that I started breaking out around my ears spreading down toward my chin. What to do? Lightly spray an antibacterial cleaner onto a napkin and wipe your phone down. Do that once or twice a week.

2. Touching your face! Excessive touching or rubbing of your face can cause pimples. Increase your awareness of how much you touch your face.

3. Sleeping with make up on! If you don’t wash your face the night before, you up your chances of unwanted pimples the next day. Read more about

4. Not washing your pillowcase! Your pillowcase collects lots of bacteria and dead skin. Wash it often and have spares to change it out with.

5. Wash your hands before applying make up OR moisturizer. If you have any residue of anything on your hands when you put these on, your skin may react to it without you knowing why.

6. NOT drinking water! You want to drink at least 64 ounces of water a day. Water helps flush impurities out of your body and keeps it functioning well. Don’t dismiss this one as a minor suggestion. You have no idea how much water helps pimples until you get into the habit of drinking it.

7. Sugar! Okay, so most people probably know this one, but I’m sorry to say that sugar is a major culprit to acne. Especially soda, diet or not. If you drink soda on a daily basis, you will have to decide which is more important: soda or the battle for a clear face. It doesn’t stop there though. Any foods with sugar, including candy and juice that isn’t 100% from fruit. Water is the safest thing to drink.

8. Junk food! Cut down on the junk food and replace with better snacks and hearty meals. Bad foods definitely cause acne.

9. Stress. Our bodies are pretty good at telling us when something isn't right, and sometimes pimples will pop up when life gets stressful. Figure out what might be the culprit and eliminate it! Or at least try pampering yourself with something you find relaxing.
