This month let’s take a closer look at Olive Oil. I’ve just recently started using it more often, both in cooking and beauty care. I had no idea Olive Oil had such amazing benefits! I have a feeling I’ll be saying that every month as I dig and discover the fantastic properties of ingredients that are truly Nature’s Gift!
Applying Extra Virgin Olive Oil topically is more nourishing than you might think. It’s very high in antioxidants, which help protect skin from free radicals. Free radicals are damaging to the skin and are found in pollution, sun rays and cigarette smoke, to name a few areas. It also has essential fats and vitamins A, E, D and K. As a side note, I’ve heard that vitamin K helps with dark circles under eyes. Maybe try using a little Olive Oil there. Back on track, Olive Oil is very moisturizing, helping skin stay smooth and elastic. If pregnancy is in the future or present, try using this instead of the traditional baby oil. Olive oil has also been linked with helping to fight skin cancer.
A quick word on Olive Oil for internal benefits: Can help with blood pressure, lowering cholesterol and protecting immune system against bacteria and viruses. Also aids in digestion and helps lubricate joints. Click here for more health benefits.
Olive Oil can be used all over. Here are a couple ways I’ve used it with great success!
1. A facial moisturizer. After I wash with powdered milk, I take a couple drops in my palm, moisten my fingers and then massage into my face. Use only a thin layer making sure to really massage it in. So great, especially with winter weather around the corner! Here is a link to a message board talking about using Olive Oil.
2. Eye make-up remover! This is quite good at removing make-up. Use a cotton ball and/or a Q-tip. I would recommend using this over baby oil.
3. Mix with a couple other nourishing ingredients to make a great all over moisturizer. Go to Olive Lotion for the recipe. I use this right after a shower and/or shave. Very moisturizing!
So there’s a little peek at an amazing ingredient. Be sure to include it in your beauty routines and be sure to buy the Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The less processing, the more nutrients and antioxidants for you! |
