| Every skin type is different; some people have dryer skin and others deal with excess oil.
For those of you who have dry faces, extra weekly care like a moisturizer mask may be helpful. Also, check to make sure it isn’t your face wash or water temperature that’s causing the dryness. Read Cleansing Your Face for more info. For those of you with oily faces, skimping on moisturizer especially around the oily places might work better for you. Often times the extra oil is caused by a reaction to face washes stripping oils from skin, causing glands to work harder to produce more to compensate for the loss. Another cause may be climate. For any skin type, if you are going to buy a moisturizer you want to get one that has water as the first ingredient. Don’t go overboard on the amount you use. It should only take a pea-sized portion to get the job done. I have used i.d. bare vitamins skin rever-upper before. It’s a thinner moisturizer that has vitamins that help promote clear skin and helps repair damaged skin. It comes in a pump dispenser that gives a perfect pea portion. I used this for the past year and didn't have an “oily resistance” or pimples because of it. You can find it for about $7-$10 on ebay. However, a more natural way of moisturizing that I have done recently is using Extra Virgin Olive Oil on my face. I know it sounds crazy to put oil on the face, but this is definitely simple and so nourishing. Even people with acne have claimed that it helped. Here's a link to a forum with info and some personal experiences. Just take a couple drops into the palm of one hand, use the fingers with the other hand to get a very thin layer, then massage into skin. Make sure and get the oil into the skin, skimping on naturally oily areas. I've really enjoyed using this and so far it's been wonderful, especially for winter time. Recenlty I've also tried 100% Cocoa Butter massaged into my face. Doesn't take much and I gently massage it into my skin. SO SOFT! My skin feels amazing and smooth. It's need to be 100% though. This comes in a solid form which melts on contact with skin. Great chocolate smell too! |
