Facial Steaming
Home
My sister and I tried facial steaming and found it to be quite wonderful! We were surprised at the ease yet also at the neat results. We used a great recipe, which I’ve included below, for an extra kick to our facial steam. Here’s some basic info about steaming.

The benefits of steaming are many, especially considering how quick of a process it is. Steaming opens pores and helps draw out impurities and toxins making cleansers, facial masks and scrubs more effective when used afterward. It also softens the skin’s surface which helps with deep cleansing. Steaming is very soothing and relaxes facial muscles! This is especially nice after a rather stressful day. Although steaming does not remove dirt or grime, it does help prepare the skin for a great cleansing!
It’s very easy to steam. Just pour some hot water into a bowl, add any optional ingredients to the water such as herbs and oils, and then grab a towel to cover your head to help direct steam towards your face. Be careful not to burn skin with water that is too hot or by putting your face too close to the steam! Very important.
Stay under the towel for about 5 minutes, unless your skin is sensitive, then it’s recommended to steam for only about 3. If you have dry skin, steaming frequently isn’t the best idea because it does deplete skin of its natural moisture. If desired, steaming once a week seems to be the recommended amount.

This feels so rejuvenating and relaxing! My skin felt very clean and fresh after steaming and cleansing. Follow up with either a homemade mask or just cleanse with yogurt, powdered milk or honey.
