Tip!
Oily Faces: try cleansing oily areas with baking soda and water to form a paste. Gently massage into skin, rinse and pat dry. Add  smidgen of moisturizer if your skin feels really tight.
Tip!
Different climates and seasons affect your skin. You may find you need extra moisturizer or none at all from season to season or climate to climate. Be prepared to change your routine!

Cleansing Your Face
To find out how to approach cleansing your face, first you should know your skin type. Once you’ve figured this out, then comes experimenting! There are some general rules of thumb for each of the skin types, but everyone has their own individual needs so don’t be afraid to play around with it.

Here are a few things to consider.

1. Temperature of water used
2. Type of cleanser
3. The enthusiasm of cleaning

  1. The temperature of your cleansing water should NEVER be hot. Always use your hands to gently splash water onto your face.
-For oily skin, go for water that is warm, but barely warm. When you splash it onto your face, it should only register as ‘wet’ to slightly warm, not hot, not cold. This is the perfect temperature.
-If you have dry skin, use water that barely registers as ‘cool’. Any hotter and it'll be one more thing to dry out your face.

  2.   The type of cleanser you use is probably causing dryness, oil, acne, splotches etc.... Most all cleansers have chemicals, fragrances, preservatives and coloring that are harmful or irritating to skin; ingredients that give the product a nice smell, pretty look and long shelf life. All this is quite appealing to be sure, but for most of us, not very nice on the skin.

  3.  And of course there’s your enthusiasm when you clean your face. You don’t want to scrub, rub or sand your skin in an effort to get rid of zits, oil or whatever else. Treat your skin as if it were a delicate flower; nothing more than an ever so gentle massage. If you use a facial exfoliate, be sure to be extra gentle.

If your face has a tight feeling or red splotches after washing, it could be a one of these things.
*The cleanser you’re using is too harsh.
*The temperature of the water is too hot.
*Scrubbing or massaging too hard.
